New music from The National you say?? We’ll have a bit of that please. It may not be their best song, but it’s The National and we’ve missed them.

We’ve been meaning to post something about Wolf Alice for ages, but, as you’ve probably noticed, we’re pretty lazy around these parts. So, 6 months later….here’s WOLF ALICE from Holloway. They’re pretty good. This is the best song they’ve put out so far, but with a surging media and music industry support including a Chess Club Records single and an NME Awards affiliated single launch this week, means the major label deal will be in the bag soon.

Khushi have been whipping up a storm amongst the A&R scouts of London in recent weeks with a heavy music industry attendance at gigs at The Old Queen’s Head & Barfly. Singer Kalim has a really nice tone to his voice and their’s a really positive energy through their music.  There’s an occasional hint of The National in his vocal on ‘Magpie’, which will be a huge hit for them when they release it.  We can’t stop listening to them – get yourselves on board sharpish.

Have you heard this rather fine track ‘Solace‘ by the very mysterious Fyfe yet? We can’t stop listening. He joined Facebook a month ago, at the time of writing has 55 likes, and 58 views on Youtube, has a very stylish back of the head shot on his website.  So not much to go on.  The Disco Naivete blog tells us that he’s a 23 year old Londoner and he has an EP is to come in March. We cannot wait to hear it.  Tell us more, Fyfe lad!

The BBC have unveiled the contenders for their annual BBC Sound of 2013, a longlist of 15 acts who the music and media industries believe will break through next year.  The list is whittled down to 5 each day from the end of December.  Our money is on the following top 5…. 1) Tom Odell 2) Laura Mvula 3) AlunaGeorge 4) Haim 5) Peace.  But then again, what do we know.  Listen here to hear tracks from the longlist to make up your own minds.  But ignoring the likely contenders, we think you should check out the mighty King Krule – little chance of winning, but your ears will thank you for it.
